Wherever the risk of cost fluctuation is considered significant, contracts may specify that the price will be adjusted to compensate. Cost index values are provided for this purpose.

Data

Economic evaluation

An application for funding must include an evaluation of costs and benefits

Education, promotion and marketing

Education, promotion and marketing all make important contributions to altering the choices and behaviour of the traveling public.

Financing projects and activities

Land Transport NZ is able to contribute funds for eligible transportation activities undertaken by approved organisations. The amount of contribution, the eligibility criteria and the application process are described here.

Infrastructure asset management

Procurement

Approved organisations must use approved procurement procedures if they wish to access NZ Transport Agency funding for their project(s).

Research

Each year Land Transport NZ funds research into land transport. The research currently covers 7 topic areas that range broadly from road pavements to environmental impacts. This section briefly describes the process of applying for industry directed research funds to research reports that may be of interest.

Socio-economic deprivation index (SDI)

The index of deprivation is constructed from information collected during each five-yearly census.  It provides a summary deprivation score from 1 to 10 for small areas (mesh blocks) and suburbs (area units).  A score of 1 is allocated to the least deprived 10 percent of areas, and 10 is allocated to the most deprived 10 percent of areas.
