Summary
Austroads is the association of Australian and New Zealand road transport and traffic authorities and aims to promote improved road transport outcomes.
A wide range of guides are published by Austroads. A small subset of Austroad guides are currently used by NZTA for State Highways.
A new series of Austroads road engineering guides were launched on 1 July 2009. They replace the now withdrawn 'Austroads Guide to Engineering Practice' series. The NZTA will be formally integrating the road engineering guides into their State Highway business from the 1st August 2010. The 10 guides - comprising 96 parts - relate to almost every aspect of a road project life cycle. These encompass:
- Asset management
- Bridge and pavement technology
- Project delivery and evaluation
- Road design, safety and transport planning
- Traffic management and tunnels
