Reports
At a glance report is a high-level overview of the contribution that land transport makes to the government's economic, social and environmental objectives for transport.
Continuous cycle counting trial
Information about a trial (conducted in 2008) of two types of inductive loop cycle counting equipment.
The programme, which was set up in 1985, identified sites where there were similar crash patterns and recommended low cost engineering treatments aimed at reducing those crashes.
This project consists of two components: a literature review of traffic-counting technology able to detect and monitor cycle traffic on a continuous basis and an internet-based survey of road controlling authorities (RCAs) and regional councils about their experience and interest in counting cycle traffic, either manually or automatically.
The land transport sector covers a range of transport systems owned by central and local government, from pedestrian and cycling networks through to urban motorways. Vehicle and other users pay for the use of these systems through a range of charges including taxes on fuels, vehicle registration and road user charges on diesel vehicles.
Heavy vehicle efficiency report
The objective of this project was to develop initiatives and interventions that will deliver energy reductions in the road freight sector.
Land transport access and mobility - comparison of passenger transport policies of regional councils
This publication has been prepared to pull together policy statements on key aspects of passenger transport, for the purpose of understanding the policy direction being taken by individual authorities; and to facilitate easy comparison of policy statements.
Light vehicle fleet energy use report
This report was commissioned by EECA in order to address the serious shortfall in knowledge and understanding of transport energy used by the light vehicle fleet, how this energy use is changing, what is driving those changes, what energy savings opportunities exist and what can be done to stabilise or reduce the growing energy demand of this sector.
Motor Vehicle Crash Data 2008 provides a brief explanation of the source of the crash data used by engineers, researchers, road safety practitioners and policy makers in New Zealand.
The Quality of Life report provides a comprehensive assessment of quality of life in 12 New Zealand cities. The purpose of the report is to provide information that contributes to the understanding of social, economic and environmental conditions which can be used to describe and quantify the quality of life of those living in New Zealand's major urban areas.
Road safety data reports are produced annually for each authority. They are produced by NZTA using data extracted from CAS. Apart from brief generic explanations, no commentary is provided.
Road safety issues reports are produced annually for each authority, by NZTA who comment on road safety data, highlight issues and identify ways to reduce the number of road deaths and injuries.
The social report is an annual publication that monitors the well being of New Zealanders.
The Statement of intent sets out an approach and course of action for the next three years that will contribute to the delivery of the government's land transport objectives and wider transport vision.
This fact sheet provides a brief explanation of the source of the crash data used by engineers, researchers, road safety practitioners and policy makers in New Zealand.
The Ministry of Transport is undertaking a study to update the knowledge of transport costs and charges. It is anticipated that this study will be completed by around December 2010.
The Government has announced its decision to develop and introduce measures to reduce the growing environmental and harmful health impacts of vehicle emissions in New Zealand.
