Government Policy Statement (GPS) 2008
This Government Policy Statement on Land Transport Funding (GPS), released in August 2008, detailed the Labour government's desired outcomes and funding priorities for the land transport sector. It covered the period 2009/10 to 2014/15 and more indicatively for a further four years to 2018/19. Note that, following the election of a National government in November 2008, this was replaced by the GPS 2009, released in May 2009.

This Government Policy Statement on Land Transport Funding 2009/10 - 2018/19 (GPS) details the government's desired outcomes and funding priorities for the use of the National Land Transport Fund to support activities in the land transport sector. The GPS covers the impacts the government wishes to achieve from its investment in land transport, how it will achieve these impacts through funding certain activity classes, how much funding will be provided, and how this funding will be raised.
Sea Change is a strategy designed to transform coastal shipping in New Zealand.
In May 2008, the Minister of Transport launched Sea change: Transforming coastal shipping in New Zealand. The strategy recognises that coastal shipping is an important part of an integrated transport network.
The Total Mobility Scheme (the Scheme) provides a subsidised taxi service to people with serious mobility constraints by way of taxi vouchers that provide a discount of (usually) 50 percent off the normal taxi fare. It also provides funding assistance for the purchase and installation of wheelchair hoists in taxi vans.
Transport strategic directions
The Transport Sector Strategic Directions document (TSSD) outlined the government transport agencies strategic priorities for the three year period 2006-2009. This update is the first annual progress report on delivering those strategic priorities.
