Summary

Road network statistics are compiled annually by NZTA from information provided from all road controlling authorities in New Zealand. The information covers:

  • physical statistics, including the type and length of all roads and bridges in the network
  • works completed during the 12 months ending 30 June
  • expenditure on maintenance and development during the 12 months ending 30 June
  • road roughness based on sample surveys undertaken during the last 3 years
