Outcomes
'Outcomes' is another word for results. The word 'outcomes' is used to refer to both desired outcomes (also called expectations) and actual outcomes.
The government has defined 5 objectives for transport, which also provide convenient and widely recognised groupings of outcomes.
- Assisting economic development
- Assisting safety and personal security
- Improving access and mobility
- Protecting and promoting public health
- Ensuring environmental sustainability
Statements of desired outcomes now appear widely in New Zealand legislation as well as in strategies and plans. See documents that refer to outcomes.
How Land Transport NZ and its sector partners will contribute towards the achievement of the outcomes is explained in Land Transport NZ's Statement of Intent 2007-2010. See contributing to outcomes.
