Statistics, works completed, condition, use and costs for roads are compiled annually by NZTA using data received from each territorial authority in New Zealand.

Trends and comparisons are available for the following:

• Road Condition - presently only for local roads.
• Physical statistics for roads - including lengths (by centreline-km, or lane-km) of urban, rural, sealed and unsealed State Highways and local roads
• Physical statistics for bridges - presently only for local authority networks
• Physical statistics for cycleways - presently only for local authority networks
• Physical statistics for busways - not yet published - contact us in the interim
• Physical statistics for walkways - not yet published - contact us in the interim
• Works completed on road networks throughout NZ

Useful tools

• The road network trends WIZARD combines road condition, physical statistics, and works completed with use (VKT) and costs - for local roads and State highways.
• Road network STATISTICS contains tables of network length, works completed annually and the costs of that work - for local roads and State Highways. Please note: No longer being produced since the same data is available under "costs", "physical statistics", and "works completed"
